The James Denman Middle School PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) welcomes you to our community site, where we share family-related news, information about the PTSA and our events, how to participate in the community, and ways to donate to programs that benefit our students and staff.
Looking for information from our wonderful administration? Hop over to the Denman page at the SFUSD website.
📚 Join us at Back to School Night! This is a great opportunity to meet your children’s teachers, connect with staff and learn about Denman’s PTSA! (Psst, your Denman kids can join, too.) 🎉
That evening, the Denman PTSA will also be having our first fundraiser of the school year, selling pizza, treats, and drinks. 💵💚
Proceeds benefit our school site and go toward funding:
supplies for teachers and students
student clubs
books
STEAM Night
grade-level camping trips
Denman Pride lunchtime BBQs, and more!
We accept credit cards, Venmo, Apple Pay, CashApp, PayPal, and cash for your convenience.
Thank you!
Want to know more about the community at Denman? Volunteering on the PTSA Executive Board is a great way to learn. No experience is required!
We are seeking a VP of Community for this school year. This role helps get the word out to our community—especially Spanish-speaking families—and make them feel welcome. It's similar to this CA PTA Job Description.
We also invite participation in committees, which are small groups that help with PTSA operations:
Volunteer Committee: be notified first of volunteer needs and think of people who could help
Membership Committee: promote the benefits of PTSA membership
Nominating Committee: in January and February, identify and recruit Executive Board members for the following school year
Budget Committee: estimate how much we'll raise and prioritize our spending
Fundraising Committee: brainstorm, solicit donations, or plan/staff fundraising events
Grants Committee: review staff program grant applications several times a year and vote on whether to fund them
Financial Review Committee: twice a year in a short meeting, ensure that the Financial Reviewer examined our financial and legal records properly
As part of the pilot that ends this school year, Denman 8th grade students are invited to participate in Algebra 1 online.
🔹 Self-paced, online, independent study during the school year
🔹 Enrollment confirmation will be sent to students’ SFUSD email, and they will use their Clever accounts
🔹 Students will be matched with a mentor to monitor their progress
See these letters containing eligibility requirements and the application form, which you can access with your student’s SFUSD account.
Forms are due this Friday, Sep. 12!
Ready to get involved in middle school? Fill out our interest form to share anything you'd like to participate in, and we'll contact you with reminders about volunteering and joining the PTSA.
Also, visit this page to learn how to connect with other families on social media and our community group platform, groups.io.
Every family is asked to complete the Multi Purpose Family Income Form. It provides crucial funding, even if your family doesn't qualify for free and reduced lunch.
If you have not yet completed it for this school year, please follow the instructions here. Our school’s goal is 100% completion—please complete it by this Friday, Sep. 12!
